I have the same configuration as Rebecca. This week I had a similar issue with a 16gb SD card. I heard a message about damage but it always disappeared before I could get to it It still worked in my Victor Stream but when I put it back in the reader I received the same damage message and could not access it to tell Windows to fix it. This time I went to This Computer and entered on the drive letter and it showed NO files & I knew I had 2 books on there. Finally, today, in frustration, I went by & picked up another SD card and it works fine for now, transferred 2 new biographies onto it and they are reading fine. I am going to try to choose the format option on the old SD card and see if I get the card back and can use it for a backup.

This happens with both insert-f4 and insert-windows-f4. Sometimes my save as menu won't work in Word. If I shut JAWS down and bring it back, the menu reads as it should. I much prefer running JAWS from the system tray, so that it won't be in the alt-tab line up. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, and maybe a lot of us, about disappeared messages. Smile.
