Hi,
You can do editing in read only file, but save it in different name.
That way, you still have the original file.

Hi Donnie,
this means that if you set a file as read only, you can't edit it, thus
protecting the file so you don't accidently delete something important or an
important part of the file. If a file is set to read only and you try to
delete it, a dialogue box comes up telling you you have a read only file and
asking you if you want to delete it anyway.
Thanks to a few earlier emails, I now know how to make a file a read only
file. thanks guys.
