I hope the Support reported their inability to make things work 
satisfactorily to FS.

I am not Chris but I can confirm that at least in some cases the punctuation
manager functions in Jaws does not work. As I mentioned I had UK Jaws
support spend an hour on a home visit on my PC trying unsuccessfully to get
it to work. This is why in the end I reverted to Dictionary Manager to get
the same affect.

Chris,
What doesn't work?  I'm late on this thread.  When you customize a
punctuation sign, you tell JAWS to SILENCE non, some, most, or all speaking
of it.  thus, when you have set apostrophe [or quote] to 'all' in the
default or the application configuration, it will not then be spoken at all.
