hi karen, FS does not recommend the all in one printer, scanner, fax combos. It would be best to get a dedicated scanner. The Epson models seem to work well with Open Book. As for printers, they are pretty much plug and play. If you do not do much printing, I would recommend a monochrome laser printer. They can be found for less than $100. The problem with ink jet printers is that if you don't print much, the ink dries out, and you may have to replace a cartridge even though you hardly used it.
