AVG 8 by default will scan your system everyday at 12:00. This can be
customized of course. Updating of both the database and program itself will
also take place automatically, by default everyday at 8:00. Again this can
be customized. Not sure about the OE question since I'm using Gmail as my
provider and AVG 8 doesn't support Gmail out of the box.
