Bill,

So far as I know, the sort of heading you refer to is a JAWS artifact, in the display of lists in HTML documents. I have never seen it in a Word document. but, perhaps, if the document is saved as HTML, then read in Word . . . ? I really don't know.

Sorry!

Hello,

I can create the bulleted or numbered lists.
My question was about the heading of the list.

Is there a way to add "list of xx items", xx being the number of items in the list? I have noticed others use this type of formatting and wanted to know if this is a special formatting for the heading of lists I can use and how? Or did they insert that
heading manually?

Thank you,

Bill

Bill,

If I understand correctly what you are asking, Word will automatically do this formatting for you. Just type:
1. item 1<hard return<

As soon as you enter the hard return, Word will automatically indent the first line, indent the second line AND insert the number 2.
for you, etc.

There is an option, somewhere, to toggle this automatic behavior on or off; but I don't remember where it is, in the menu structure.
But, in any case, I believe it is on by default.

My best advice: try it and see.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Word - lists and formatting

Hello,

I have noticed in some Word documents the following formatting.
List of 2 items
. item 1
.item 2

Do you have to type in "List of 2 items", or can you use a special
formatting to create that heading based on how many items are in
the list?

If I do need to use a special heading style for my list, or formatting,
how can I accomplish?

I am using Word 2003 and Jaws 10.

Thank you,

Bill
