It sounds like you receive complete and accurate information with a simple key stroke. I imagine you could only do that where that key combination doesn't interfere like in outlook express for example. JawsKey + Shift + b. Now this doesn't always work the same all of the time or on all computers. On this ThinkPad X series it reads the status when unplugged but doesn't seem to be able to find the spot when plugged in. I believe you have to have the battery meter showing in the system tray and you can always see it if it is there by opening that menu with JawsKey + F11. When looking at it that way you will also see if it is charging. After that it depends on the software and that depends on the computer. I can click on that and make changes to the battery settings like various power saving options. I have a second battery in my CD bay most of the time and I can see information about the status of each battery including age and how many times each has been cycled. I suppose this is a lot more than you wanted to know but it is all done using Jaws. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Ferrin" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 2:00 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop Battery > It's fine so long as you're doing it with jaws in the mix. > David Ferrin > [email protected] > Life is what happens after you have already made other plans. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Wes Derby" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 1:55 PM > Subject: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop Battery > > > Not sure if this is appropriate for this list, or if I should have put it > on > Blind-computing, but here goes. > > Once I get my new laptop, how to I check, with JAWS, the battery status so > that I know when it needs a charge?..For instance, on my PACMate, the > battery level is on the Today sceen...On my cell phone running Windows > Mobile with MobileSpeak, I just double-tap a section of the screen to get > the battery status. > > Thanks. > > Wes > > Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: > http://www.jaws-users.com > Visit the Blind Computing home page at: > http://www.blind-computing.com > Address for the list archives: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] > To post to this group, send email to > [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to > [email protected] > For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject > or > body of a blank message to: > [email protected] > Use the following address in order to contact the management team > [email protected] > If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the > following address: > [email protected] > > > Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: > http://www.jaws-users.com > Visit the Blind Computing home page at: > http://www.blind-computing.com > Address for the list archives: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] > To post to this group, send email to > [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to > [email protected] > For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject > or body of a blank message to: > [email protected] > Use the following address in order to contact the management team > [email protected] > If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the > following address: > [email protected] > > Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [email protected] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [email protected] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [email protected] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [email protected] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [email protected] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [email protected] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [email protected] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [email protected]
