It sounds like you receive complete and accurate information with a
simple
key stroke. I imagine you could only do that where that key combination
doesn't interfere like in outlook express for example.

JawsKey + Shift + b.
Now this doesn't always work the same all of the time or on all
computers.
On this ThinkPad X series it reads the status when unplugged but doesn't
seem to be able to find the spot when plugged in.
I believe you have to have the battery meter showing in the system tray
and
you can always see it if it is there by opening that menu with JawsKey +
F11. When looking at it that way you will also see if it is charging.
After that it depends on the software and that depends on the computer. I
can click on that and make changes to the battery settings like various
power saving options. I have a second battery in my CD bay most of the
time
and I can see information about the status of each battery including age
and
how many times each has been cycled.
I suppose this is a lot more than you wanted to know but it is all done
using Jaws.

It's fine so long as you're doing it with jaws in the mix.

Not sure if this is appropriate for this list, or if I should have put
it
on
Blind-computing, but here goes.
Once I get my new laptop, how to I check, with JAWS, the battery status
so
that I know when it needs a charge?..For instance, on my PACMate, the
battery level is on the Today sceen...On my cell phone running Windows
Mobile with MobileSpeak, I just double-tap a section of the screen to
get
the battery status.
Thanks.
