I was told by a programmer friend, that it consists of about two or
three symbols in windows and is thus difficult to reproduce as such with
the usual programs we use.

That is when I just tried the method described below and it worked to
get rid of unwanted line breaks.

It will usually only happen in books one scanned  when some characters
were interpreted incorrectly by the OCR program.

I haven't tested it, but was told that one would be able to reproduce it
with the edge sharp program using window eyes or jaws.
