Where does he find the option to add sender when he replies? Is it in a menu or does he tab to see that option? Thanks.

I use windows mail and I can sort of answer your question. If your friend replies to things, there is an option that says something like add people i reply to to my address book. To look at the contacts, he needs to hit control shift C to bring up the window, an from there, it's your standard control n to add a new contact. If you need more help, let me know off list.
