I'm starting to think it's partly JAWS...  When I get the "one item
remaining..." message, if I route & use the JAWS cursor for a few seconds, I
can re-activate the Virtual cursor and read the page.  If I don't do this,
the page never comes up.  I did uninstall IE8 since I wrote last, but the
problem on this particular site persisted.  

I'm using JAWS 10, the latest build.  

Thanks for the reply and I'll  try clearing the history as you suggested-
but that has never been a problem before.

     Some times if it has been a week or two since I cleared the browser
history IE 8 does start running slower. Just a thought.
