So how do I get the speech to speak the time then?

You have the chime and speech tabs. Yes they can speak at the same time. 
that is why I wrote to the lis because speech/chime was working together but

then suddenly stopped. As I said they are working again. My guess is and 
this is only a guess, that when I tried to use a different style clock under

the clock tab other than the analog clock, and unchecked the box to use the 
windows windows clock things went wrong. The dern thing is working now and 
speech/chime worked at 6:00 am this morning. It is coming up on 7:00 let's 
see if everything is still ok. (smile) Yep, it is still working. I am going 
to leave this puppy alone for now!
