When I turned my computer on after things got fixed Jill said the time. But I wasn't sure if she would work to announce the time on the hour without me going into the program and turning it back on. Well I am leaving my house now and putting the laptop in standby. It will be interesting to see what happens when I get back. I will see what happens if I don't manually initiate the program. ----- Original Message ----- From: "blindguy" <blindgu...@gmail.com>

Hi
Does the talking clock start automatically when a person boots up the
computer?

God bless,

From the Talking Desktop Clock submenu in All Programs, select Talking
Desktop Clock options. Then go to View menu, and hit Enter on Speech.
This will give you the Speech interface where you can set voice, volume
and speech rate. Be sure to check the appropriate time interval check
boxes and set the starting and ending times. To switch back to the Chimes

interface, go to View menu, and hit Enter on Chimes. Note that the Chimes
and Speech interfaces are independent of one another, so options in each
one need to be set separately.

So how do I get the speech to speak the time then?

You have the chime and speech tabs. Yes they can speak at the same time.
that is why I wrote to the lis because speech/chime was working together
but

then suddenly stopped. As I said they are working again. My guess is and
this is only a guess, that when I tried to use a different style clock
under

the clock tab other than the analog clock, and unchecked the box to use
the
windows windows clock things went wrong. The dern thing is working now
and
speech/chime worked at 6:00 am this morning. It is coming up on 7:00
let's
see if everything is still ok. (smile) Yep, it is still working. I am
going
to leave this puppy alone for now!

Hi,
How do I have the voice speak the time?
I found the hourse but no voice.
Does it have to be one or the other? Can the hourse and a person speak
the
time?

What's that old saying, "if it aint broke don't fix it." I installed the
talking desktop clock and got everything working like I wanted. The only
thing I wanted to adjust was to make the voice of Jill a little louder.
I
had her set to 75% and moved it up to 80%. Now, she won't announce the
time
on the hour. If I preview the voice I hear her perfectly. My horse chime
and
time settings aren't impacted by this voice glitch.
