Hans The alt + down arrow works here. Thanks for the tip. RJ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale Leavens" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 03, 2010 16:05 Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Combo boxes
Hi Hans, I am using Jaws 9 on this computer but it doesn't work like that here for me. First letter navigation works but immediately I am thrown out of the box to some other part of the page without the selection being read. For example I wanted to select Toronto. Toledo was the first 'T', it was selected once I turned Forms Mode off and relocated the box. Hit enter again to get back into Forms Mode and hit 'T' again and off focus goes somewhere else. Turning off forms Mode again and relocating the combo box confirmed that Toronto had been selected. then down to the next box to select Buffalo Airport or at least discover it it is an option. As it turns out it is an option but the second one so again another round into and out of forms mode. I do have Jaws 11 but have only installed it on my work computer. The joys of Jaws 11 come with composing documents and spell checking MS-Word 2003. Ultimately things just go silent, I cannot close jaws, cannot save my work and close Word, mostly the keyboard stops working or if it doesn't the computer stops talking so I can't tell what the keyboard response is. Only resolution is to hit the power button. Since Jaws 11 comes up as the default I often forget when working in Word to close it and load Jaws 9. Sometimes I become aware that something isn't keeping up with me as I type, I get the occasional beep from the computer as if I hit two keys simultaneously. When this begins to happen it reminds me to save my work, kill Jaws and bring back Jaws 9 and all goes well. I am conflicted about replacing 9 with 11 on this machine not sure of the advantages. Thanks.
