I think it should be worth noting here that before you go into the cue points dialog box, you'll have to place a cue point at the beginning of the audio file with control+Q, otherwise you'll receive an error when you go to split the file saying that there is no cue point at the beginning of the file.
It will then refuse to split the file based on your auto cuing. Also, if you find you get this error message, just get out of the cue points dialog box, do a control+A to go to the beginning of the audio file, and place the cue point at that stage with control+Q. At that point, you can go back into the cue points dialog box, and split the file. Hope this helps.
