Hi Ann,

Both operating systems are navigable with a bit of familiarity

Thanks but I am just trying to help someone on the phone and I don't have Windows 7. So I cannot experiment with your suggestions.
I gather that Windows 7 is not as navigable with Jaws as XP?

Hi Ann,

Yea, WMP12 is a real pain. I wouldn't get rid of WMP11 unless you have no other choice. SMILE! Once I have the songs on the drive to be burn, I select them and than go through the menu as usual. I guess this lets WMP12 know there is a burning job to be completed. step 2 Than you want to alt tab and WMP12 layout appears and using the JAWS curser find "START BURN" I believe on the second line of the page from the top. Pressing the left curser activates the burning process. Once the burning process gets under way it will say, "CANCEL BURN" as oppose to what it read in the past, "STOP BURN" Note: I could be wrong, but there is no basket in WMP12 and this is why I select the songs from the start of my burning experience. I am not sure if my Windows7 is in classic mode or some other manufacture's mode, but this is how I get the job done.

HTH

Hi Brian,
You are so nice to share and I am so impressed with all your knowledge. I have Jaws 11 and XP and WXP 11 yet my friend has windows 7, Jaws 11 and WXP 12. I am trying to guide him over the phone to rip a audio CD and
burn it to make a new CD copy
I was able to guide him to tool menu, options, and check eject after ripping button.
The control+1 key to library is mighty handy.
I tried to guide him using WXP 11 techniques. He was able to rip but now after your recording he will know.
We struggled with burning as well.
In WMP11 Jaws states basket where one could copy or drop songs. I assume that if this list is empty then the start burn button does not appear. How do you select songs with WMP12 and go to basket and then burn? There was no basket window in WMP12.
Do you have another recording using burn function?
thanks again,
Ann

Hello Ann Marie,

I did a recording a couple months ago for one of my clients concerning
using
Windows Media Player 12 for ripping a CD. If you would like to go through
the file, I have included a link to it later in this message. The
recording
is certainly not professional quality but I have removed any reference to
my
client from the file. I did not get into working with the metadata in
Windows Media Player. The setting of ripping options was included, but
once
that has been done the options are remembered by Windows Media Player for any subsequent ripping. There very well might be other and better ways to
do the ripping with Windows Media Player 12, and certainly with other
programs, but I found the way discussed in the recording to be an easy way
to get the ripping done. The following link goes to my SkyDrive page
where
you can choose the download link to start downloading the file.

Hi Ann,

just to point out that when burning with wmp 11, you don't have to use

drag and

drop - you can can use the add to burn list from the selected items

context

menu. See to the the burn page section of this guide to wmp 11 for

details:
