Ah, now it makes some sense to me. On my laptop, I have one of those built-in mice. All laptops are different, but on mine I press function key with the number 2 to turn off the mouse. I've also seen laptops that you turn off the mouse by pressing function key with #9. You could be wreckless like me and try different key combinations until you get it or check your user manual. Perhaps if you tell the list what kind of keyboard you have, someone will be able to give you the right combination.
Good luck, Betsy

Betsy! It is a desktop keyboard that I have. Sometime ago, some other jaws-users subscriber was, like me, being driven around the bend by this dratted wheel, and I think, got an answer as to how it
can be killed, or, at the very least, be made less sensitive.
The little finger of my left hand, I swear doesn't touch the rotten thing, but it, the finger, only has to approach it which it does quite often when I am pressing keys on the number line, and then the cursor will, all of a sudden, have moved up a couple of lines. Just about drives me into insanity: not a very long journey I must admit, but a journey I am trying, with no thanks to the
pseudo mouse, to defer for as long as is possible.

Hi Jewel,
Are you talking about a laptop or some other equipment? I've never
seen such a little wheel in that place on a keyboard.
