That's what I was thinking? I decided to uninstall the oldest version first. And then work forward. Because, when we install a new version? We then uninstall the older one. So I figured, working from oldest to newest may be the way to go. In my case, it meant uninstalling Jaws 5.0. Yes that old a version. My desktop is 8 years old "smile". I chose to leave the shared components. I then had the Human voice talking installer come up. It said that I needed to restart my computer to continue. However, when I did this? I had both an option to install with speech or without it? Thought this weird as I was trying to uninstall. I ended up in this loop of restarting my computer. It was only by pressing alt F4 to get rid of the prompt. I was then presented with the options to: modify, repair or uninstall Jaws. This sounded more better. However, when my computer restarted this time? I had no speech. I thought maybe my hotkeys had been removed with the uninstall. But a family member said. That I had a blue screen saying something about the byos I think? I rebooted and had my family member press F8 to bring up the safe mode menu. We chose to restart in the last best known configuration. This got Jaws and windows back to normal. However, when I uninstalled Jaws 6.0? I had the same problem happen all over again. Why would doing a simple uninstall of Jaws cause all this trouble? And can I avoid it with the next uninstall?

Thanks Jason

XP? I'm thinking CTRL panel, right click, uninstall and click remove jaws
only but keep shared components.
I don't think it matters which direction you go for uninstalling from oldest
to newest or newest to oldest. I have done it both ways.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] what is the best way to uninstall previous versions of
Jaws

Hi list,
I am currently running Jaws 12 on my Desktop computer running XP home.
However, I also still have installed several older versions of Jaws. Such
as, Jaws 11, 10, 9, 8 and 7 etc. I am going to keep Jaws 11 installed at the
moment. In case I have any issues with Jaws 12. However, to free up some
disk space. I was thinking of uninstalling these other older versions. How
do I best go about doing this? Do I just go through add and remove programs
in the control panel like usual? Or is there an uninstall option somewhere
within the Jaws menu? There has also been talk on the list previously, to do
with shared components. Do I choose the option to remove shared components
when uninstalling the previous versions or not? And is it best to uninstall the newest version I want to remove and then work backwards? Or should i go back to the very oldest version and remove that first and then work forward
to the newest version?

Thanks Jason
