I wonder if you never enabled typeover in Word options? 1. Go to the office menu with alt-f. 2. Hit enter on word options. 3. Go to the advanced area, if I recall correctly. 4. Enable the checkbox to have typeover use the insert key. Remember, this was the default behavior in Word 2003, but typeover was turned off by default in MsWord 2007. Of course, the insert-key is the Jaws key, so it doesn't get passed on to MsWord, hence the Jaws command control-alt-i works instead. Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
