I experience the same behavior with this program running in Windows7.  It
only occurs when I attempt to open certain books from bookshare, however.
On one of them it simply crashes and won't open the book at all.  I've
re-downloaded the book several times thinking that it was corrupted during
the download, but I'm convinced that the problem is either with the book
it's self, or FS Reader.

Yes, I believe however that it is searching for every playable file on your
system when it announces no response, it takes quite a while.  Try just
leaving for a while longer and see.
