Lenny,

You could try hitting the F6 key and arrow down until you
hear a button about viewing in regular or non protected
view. Something like that. Click on this and you probably
will be able to read and edit the document. You do need to
make sure documents are from a source you can trust

I was sent an important docx file. I have office home and
student 2010. When I open the file Jaws reads protected mode
and file contains two objects. The only thing that I can
read is a slash. The actual text is on the screen that my
wife can read. I can not read it with the jaws or pc cursor.
Using the latest jaws 13, windows 7 home.
Are there any settings that I need to change?
