Hi I have seen this occur in both JAWS 12 and 13, where, for me, the profile for DecTalk Access32 speech uses the Eloquence voice. You can go to the Voice Adjustment dialog by going to the JAWS menu and choosing Options, Voices and then Voice Adjustment. In that dialog just under the profile name field is a field that lists the actual speech synthesizer that the profile is using. I think you used to be able to tab to it and change it under some earlier version of JAWS, but now it's read only and you have to use the JAWS cursor to read it. For the Eloquence profile, the synthesizer should be Eloquence. If it's something different, such as SAPI 5, that would explain why you are hearing a different voice. I think it has something to do with the settings in the Voice Profiles file located in the same folder that has the ENU folder for your user settings. I don't know how or why it's getting changed, nor what can be done other than a re-install to fix it.

On my student's lap top, even though it says the voice is Eloquence, it's Tom from Nuance. Go figure! At 09:01 AM 12/4/2011, you wrote: >Eloquence is installed automatically.
