Margaret,
Launch Open book. Press Control+o to open.
tab to file type and type adobe. Or just arrow down to adobe/PDF.
Shift tab back to folder name. I usually have my docs under my documents
but Openbook has its own path. So when on folder name keep hitting the
backspace key until you get to the folder where your PDF file is located.
You might just want to put your file on desktop and keep pressing the
backspace until you get to desktop.
When you see your file name in list view press enter and OpenBook should
begin processing. Hopefully it is readable.
Good luck.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Reading Whole .PDF Document and Convenient
OCRFeature
Thanks for what would be a great idea, but it is from my attorney and is
private, so I don't want to send it to a service or for anyone to open for
me. I do have Open Book 9, but my efforts to open it with OB haven't
worked. I don't know if I have messed up my file associations or
something, but I get the following error message:
File C:\Program Files (x86)\Freedom
Scientific\OpenBook\9.0\Users\default\Library\(the name of the file).pdf
does not exist.
The file is definitely in documents under libraries.
I launch OB. Press alt-F/ Press enter on open. Paste in the name of the
file . Tab over to the combo box for look in. Get to libraries and press
enter on open. I can't get it to go below libraries.
I've spent hours on this and am getting very frustrated. I'm still not
good with Win 7 and only use Open Book when I have a .pdf file to deal
with.
Could someone give the instructions to get Open Book to open the .pdf?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I actually recommend sending the document to [email protected].
You'll get it back in a few minutes as a textfile attachment. You can
put
codes in the subject line to specify a different return file format.
Alternatively, you can upload the file to www.robobraille.org and specify
the desired file format in the form.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Reading Whole .PDF Document and Convenient OCR
Feature
Hi, All:
Someone attached an important .PDF document in an e-mail that Adobe
Reader gave me the infamous empty document message when I opened it and
it
was processed. I'm running JAWS 13 and tried the new Convenient OCR
feature
for the first time in an effort to get something usable out of it. Adobe
said it is a two page document. I pressed Control plus 1 as instructed
by
the JAWS What's New and Insert-Space, o, w, but JAWS is only reading
about
the first lines. Could some kind person please tell me how I can get to
hear the whole document? I'm running Adobe Reader X on a 64 bit Windows
7
Home Premium machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Margaret
