I knew that there was an option to control this. Setting to silent stopped the ding sound when reaching the top/bottom of file list. Unfortunately, it did not stop the ding sounds in Word 2003. Must be a bug. I know, why am I running Word 2003 on Win 7? Because that is what I own and it works just fine, other than the ding sound.

Thanks,
John

Hello;
Use insert+v=jaws quick settings,
Now type top in the search,
You will find,
Top and bottom edge,
Alert with sound,
Press the spacebar,
You will hear silent,
Now press enter.

Hope this helps.

Hi John
Here may be a method for you
1. Type "change system sound" without the quote at the search box.
2. Navigate to the tree view wich contain all windows sound event.
3. Press letter d until you hear Jaws read: default beep.
4. Tab to the sound combo box, and up arrow to choose (none) 5. Hit enter or
tab to the ok button and spacebar to activate this.
Hope that help

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to turn off ding sound in Jaws 13

 Hi,
I am using Jaws 13 on Windows 7 64-bit. There is one annoyance which I
recall used to happen with Jaws 7. When navigating a file list and I reach
the top or bottom item, a ding sound is played by Jaws. The same sound
occurs when editing a Word document and you reach the beginning or end of
 the document.
This may seem petty, but that sound really annoys me. I have search
through
the Jaws settings and cannot find how to turn this off. This behavior does not occur in Jaws 11 running on XP, nor did it occur with Jaws 6, 9 or 10.
 Any help will be appreciated.
 John
