JAWS 11. I don't have a problem with JAWS saying "cap" and whatever the letter is. I think I might have inadvertently altered the asci value of the character.

I would suggest you change that setting from saying CAPS to it being a higher pitch setting (for capitals). What version of JAWS are you using?
