its the extream answer, but the far end extream answer is, you should have
an option in your start menu to restore to "system factory default" this
will whipe out everything that wasn't on the machine from the factory but
that should get things running correctly without needing a compleate pain in
the brain reload.

before this though, i would go to microsoft and download there "microsoft
safty scanner" from:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
its a free independant scanner that you download and run if you think you
may have caught something that has disabled your regular anti virus, even in
your case i would run it and this:
mcafee's Stinger; you can download the latest version from:
http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free
-tools/stinger.aspx

that takes you to the agreement page, the next link is the direct download
link, which is what you need to go to if your going to agree and download
stinger:
download link:
http://downloadcenter.mcafee.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger/stinger.exe

** note any of those links might break in Emailing, so if they show up on
two lines look for a "blank" space at the end of the first line and remove
it if its there or reassemble the entire link by copying it into note pad
and taking out the blank spots before copying it again and pasting it into
the I.E. or firefox address bars.

these two scanners pulled my rear out of the fire, and kicked A$$ on the
frying pan the one time i got a virus last year, and there redone by the
makers as often as necessary so there ready for the newest, latest viruses.

hope this helps,
inthane

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with jaws not starting immediately when
Iboot my PC

I have this same exact problem and there is a lag time of from 4 to 5
minutes before JAWS 12 comes up talking in windows 7. I worked with Freedom
Scientific also and only have JAWS and the antivirus starting at Start-Up
now, nothing else, but the problem still remains. How could I do anything
with the antivirus to see if this is the problem? My antivirus was disabled
against my will and ever since that happened, I have had this problem which
is so annoying. I had Tech Support from the antivirus company on the phone
for two days, but they checked all kinds of other things which were not the
problem, unfortunately and the system is squeaky clean.
Thanks for any ideas and is there anything I can do myself to check anything
out or do anything to get this back to where it always was?
Liuda

Glad to know this. Wasn't sure if it was me or JAWS. Sometimes JAWS 12
starts before Windows XP music and sometimes up to a minute afterwards.

you?
