It just occurred to me that it is a little un-clear regarding your question.
If you are using Q points then control J and control shift J jump you back and forth to the points. I normally use the left and right bracket keys to mark the section I wish to delete. I believe if you wish to hear what is between the markers you have set hit the home key if memory serves to place you at the start marker position. To remove what is between the markers you have set hit the delete key, then control + A to select the entire audio file. Again this is from memory as it has been a little while. Honestly I do it so much that it has become automatic to the point it doesn't cross my mind all the steps involved. This makes me wonder if an audio tutorial might be in order. HTH.
