Hi Lenny, you might consider using the scripts that David has on the Jaws-users list page under the audio section of the scripts page.
I would also make sure that all the combo boxes in the control options are set to selection, straight down the line. You might also consider setting the playback options to repeat a large number of times, cince you may need to repeat the playback if editing using the fine editing option. Once you set the start and end markers, you can move the markers by pressing the shift+left and right arrows to move the start marker toward the beginning and end of the recording, respectively, or control+shift+left and right arrow to move the finish markers the same way. If you're only tailoring one end of the recording, then it may not behoove you to move both markers, so you'll only need to move one marker at a time, and you can do this by press the shift key+home or end keys to move the start marker to the beginning or end of the recording, respectively, or control+shift+home or end to move the finish markers in the same manner. Lastly, pressing shift+left bracket will play three seconds up to the start marker, and pressing shift+right bracket, will play three seconds to the finish marker. I think these are all the keystrokes you need at this point, and you can always get a list of keystrokes by pressing jaws key+H. I've listed the keystroke list as they pertain to start markers below, just in case there's a keystroke I missed that you feel you need. Now, keep in mind that these keystrokes are for the version provided on the Jaws Users scripts page for GoldWave 5.57 and higher. I don't know if the scripts for GoldWave 5.57 and lower are different from these, so please keep this in mind when performing the below keystrokes. ***Begin Keyboard Commands*** To move the start marker to the current playback or recording position press left bracket. To move the finish marker to the current playback or recording position press right bracket. To move the start marker to the left press shift+left arrow. To move the start marker to the right press shift+right arrow. To move the finish marker to the left press control+shift+left arrow. To move the finish marker to the right press control+shift+right arrow. To save the position of the start and finish markers press shift+m. To move the start and finish markers back to the stored position press shift+r. To move the start and finish markers to their previous positions press Shift+backslash. To Move the start marker to the beginning of the sound, press Shift+Home. To Move the start marker to the finish marker's position, Press Shift+End. To Move the finish marker to the start marker's position, Press Control+Shift+Home. To Move the finish marker to the end of the sound, Press Control+Shift+End. To set the selection markers press Shift+E. To play three seconds of sound to the start marker press Shift+left bracket. To play the audio between the markers, press Control+left bracket.
