Hey there Flor, thanks for jumping in here. I discovered yesterday that
menus can be activated if you press the entire sequence, i.e. Alt-F or
Alt-E, but the alt key alone will not speak. Following your suggestion I did
just now modify QT to run in the Sys Tray and that does bring up the context
menu; as does Shift F10 also. Seems strange that the Applications key does
nothing. The movie file plays much better in iTunes than in QT- so perhaps
QT demands more of the system than mine has to give? Have 0 experience with
QT.

Did you try using QuickTime via its right-click option in the system 
Tray. that opens an accessible interface.
