I guess this sounds like I just have to put up with the IE 9 as a default since most of the freezes occur when clicking links in email. One I especially remember is a Kim Komando page that led to another page and then the youtube link yesterday. There were others I remember from Lookout Mobile Security. Can't remember them all. The most aggravating part is to have to restart the computer to shut down Firefox. The computer doesn't freeze, just Firefox. I could still use more advice if anyone has any ideas. I know there are many avid Firefox users on this list. I presume that to roll back to Firefox 17 I would have to remove FF 19. But where would I get 17. And is 17 the best version for Jaws users? In old emails I had read about really low versions but it seems like they would have many security holes as newer versions of browsers generally have better security.

Using a different link for youtube would not help me since I never go to youtube and search for videos. I click links from friends that take me to interesting youtube videos. If I keep IE 9 as the default I may never realize how much more accessible the page might be on Firefox. Now, I only try Firefox when I know there are form fields or other information I know should be there. I imagine there is a great deal more information that I don't even realize I am missing using IE 9. If others experience similar problems then perhaps I should contact Jaws or Firefox about it.
Actually I was amazed at how inferior IE 9 was using Jaws.

Definitely happens with youtube, that happens with all screen readers
and flash. You could try the html5 version of youtube at
www.youtube.com/html5. As far as the other freezes go, I've found that
the best I could do was to go back to ff17 and force it to not update
automatically. I guess I should try out 19 to find out if it is any
better, but I kinda hate to break what is working.

I have always been a dedicated IE user but recently I have found that websites that I need to sign in on or otherwise interact with on IE 9 don’t even show the form boxes so I have started using Firefox for these sites. I have been able to sign in with Firefox so I wanted to make Firefox my default browser. But Firefox constantly freezes totally when it says it is being redirected to a different website. It says to press alt A or control A to proceed but this doesn’t work. It stops and only reads the title of the website. It will not close at all. I have tried Alt F4 and tried going to file menu or using Jaws cursor. Nothing helps or allows me to close the window. I have to do a forced restart of the whole computer. I can’t even open a new tab of Firefox to finish what I was doing. Today it happened when I clicked on a youtube link. When I alt tab away from the frozen Firefox window and then back it only reads the title of the page.
I have Win 7 home premium 64 bit, Jaws 14 and Firefox 19.0.
I have been slow to convert to Firefox but now I really want to use it out of necessity and it constantly freezes. I don’t know what is showing on the screen but in the window list is says minimized. Tried the alt space and x to maximize the window but no response. Jaws cursor does nothing either.
I would really appreciate some advice from the group.
IE 9 seems to do less and less for me and now comparing the same windows on IE and on Firefox it is really incredible that Firefox makes the websites so much more accessible. So I need Firefox!!
Help, please.
