Didn't work for me either, but then for one I have the Juice podcast
receiver going on in the background. These aren't central to JAWS common
operations, which is why they're in the Advanced Settings and checked by
default. (And those using JAWS Tandem will need to keep access to the
remote server checked, or remember to check it before embarking on a
Tandem session if it involves repair work).

Thanks, Maria. I unchecked most of that too. Not sure why most of it
is checked by default.

I must say, with pleasure, that after turning off most all of the
advanced settings in the JAWS basics screen, JAWS now boots up much
more quickly.

You could try playing around with the advanced options in JAWS and
turn off things like check for updates and try remote speech on
startup eetc but I doubt that it will make a real difference.

Hi Arianna, unfortunately vista was such a memory hog, that things
always tended to boot slower. I'm not sure how much help I can offer
other then make sure you have as little running on start up as you
can. sorry I was pretty unhelpful.

Is there a way to make JAWS start quicker after bootup?
I'm using a Lenovo laptop with Vista and the latest upgrade of JAWS
14.
Thanks for any help.
