I am using Excel 2007 on a windows 7 64 bit computer with Jaws 13. When I
want to add rows or columns I simply enter a formula such as =b2+b7+b9 and
it works fine for me.

If you want to add nonconsecutive cells you might try this.
I just did it and it worked.
=SUM(A1,A3,A5)

Here is what works for me. I am using Excel 2007.
If I want to add the sum of cells K1 through K5, do the following.
=sum(k1:k5)
Note: it may help to read this formula
character by character to hear where the colons and parentheses are.
