Hi,
I am facing how to get work my braille dysplay it is using Alva 544
Satelite and traveller drivers, it is called Rex, what is one Czech braille
dysplay, but under win 7 resp. 64 bits I am not able to work this braille.
Any ideas? I am affraid, that alva didn't developed drivers, but it is
stupid, it wasn't so cheap and I can't use it at this time, in this case I
am still using XP.

Sent by: "JAWS-Users-List" <[email protected]>

Hi everybody,

my Tsi navigator 40 cell display works with the pb40 serial driver which
was developed for he powerbraille 40 display.
I could drive my navigator with a USB to serial adapter, made by Aten
international. Perhaps it has an uc232 chip in it.
What you can do now to get the pb40 serial driver in jaws15 32 bit is to
ask freedom for a special build which includes the driver.
You need to have an authorized Jaws to request this special build.
I have an ilm code, and I got the build, and tested it, but
despite the pb40serial shows up among the braille displays which you can
add to jaws the driver won't work till you authorize your product.
One more important thing: You can only use this driver in a 32bit
edition of Jfw.

On 64 bit version of windows there is an alternative called brltty which
may work with your navigator device. With my device it works properly
with brltty's power telesensory driver.
Brltty us a braille display manager for both windows and linux.
The problem is that it doesn't work with jfw, it works only with nvda
which is another screen reader.

Currently I and my teacher repairing a Navigator40, so I am aware of
these issues.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through e-mail.

Greetings,
Istvan
