It's not control+pause, it's Windows Key+pause, and you can do this
keystroke from any window.

I'm going to be downloading JAWS 15, probably tomorrow, and I know I'm going
to have to choose 32 or 64 bit (or some such). What I don't know is which I
need, and I can't find the information anywhere I've looked in my computer
C. drive information.
I'm running Windows 7 ultima and IE 9 or 10 if that's the information
needed. If not ...um ...I'll try to figure it out.
