Hi

If you're checking on the colors of the character where the PC cursor is, it
could be that the colors where the carrot is are different than the rest of
the document. I've seen this happen using the JAWS cursor also. It's
probably best to use the invisible cursor and have it placed somewhere other
than where the JAWS or PC cursors are.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Changing Background & Foreground colors

Good Morning Rick,

These are my current settings. With a new message open & while in the
message edit field, I pressed, Alt + O, for the format menu. For style I
have normal checked, Font is set on black, background is set for white,
Incoding is Western European Windows, & rich text HTML is checked. This is
how my emails are all supposedly set. While typing this message & I press,
Insert + 5, Jaws reports black on black but, once sent & received, if I
invoke the, Insert + 5, keystroke on the open / received message black on
white is reported. So, I'm not sure if what Jaws reports can be trusted or
not. I'll have to get my wife & other sighted people I know to keep an eye
on my messages & report back to me if any of them are not readable. Any
input about changing background / foreground colors in IE or Windows
Explorer would be appreciated. Thank you very much for your reply.

Take Care.
Mike

  Hi Mike,
From what I just found, it appears that you need to send your message in
"rich text HTML" format in order to change the background color.
While in an open message, choose the format menu, make sure that "rich
text
format" is checked and then open the background sub-menu, and then choose
color from the 3 available options.
No first letter navigation in the list of colors, so you will just have
arrow to white, and then hit enter to check the box.
I believe that the text color is determined by the O/S, and cannot be
  changed.
Unless I don't understand what foreground and background colors that Jaws
is
reporting, I would say that it is reporting it incorrectly, which may be a
bug in Jaws or some type of setting.
It reports the same to me whether I am in a plain text or html message,
and
my background color is set to white for rich text format.
I am running Jaws 15 latest build, Win 7.
  HTH,
  Rick Justice

  Hi All,

  I'm running Win7, Outlook Express, & J15. I noticed that background &
foreground colors in new messages are reported as black on black. How can

I
or, where do I go to change this to black on white? All help will be
  greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

  Take Care.
  Mike
