from your description, it sounds that the balance for the speakers might not be equal. to check get into the playback tab, arrow to and spacebar on the sound device in question. you can check the balance in the levels tab. if you need guidance, post a shout out.

It does not appear to have the problem when playing music. My new observation is that the computer sounds, I.e. beeps etc., are much louder than the JAWS’ voice, instead of being the background.
