Yes, well said. My experience is the same. On my particular tower, it is easy as the group of four on the back are 2.0 and the pair farther down are 3.0

When you plug in to a USB 2 port, it tells you it can run faster in a USB 3 port. When plugging it into a USB 3 port, it says nothing.
