Hi. Just writing to fill you all in on the laptop situation.

Thanks again for all your ideas. As it was, I tried them all but none of them
worked; so I tried plugging in one of my portable hard drives and then
rebooting. It worked like a charm. It seemed that the computer was looking for
any connections and when it didn't find any, and I couldn't see the screen, we
went nowhere. Are there any work-arounds I can use if this happens again?
Sometimes, I don't need to plug my portable hard drives in if I'm just using
the laptop, and I'm sure I shut the laptop down properly last time.

Thanks.

Michele
