Wow, this seems to be much more difficult than it really needs to be. The thing that is most irritating to me is that I didn't have this issue with Outlook 2010 up until as recently as a few months ago.
Why Microsoft feels the need to make changes that tamper with someone's e-mail folder structures is a major mystery to me. All I know is that it is this sort of thing that is causing more and more people to shift away from Windows-based operating systems for their computing needs. So if you do a control Y and then a left arrow you can then get to a list that you can select which account you are in. when you do this and do a test email to yourself and before you send it hit escape it should automatically go to draft or you will be asked if you want to save it. If you say yes then do another control Y and go to draft folder to see if it is there. Do this for all of your accounts and if the emails are not saved in your draft folder then something has been clobared (love that term). One thing are you when opening office in the folders of your email address it helps. I use 2013 business and I have it open outlook by my email address and when moving around to different folders I use shift tab and use letter like D for drafts and then entre.
