Hi,
Check your ink.If, your ink is empty the printer will do nothing
Check that, that printer is the selected one.
Press the windows key and type printer in the search box.
Follow the printer list, I think.

Anna,
Can't you hear the printer positioning the printing head when you first
start your computer? if not, then it may be that the printer is not
connected. The easiest thing would be to try printing something and see what
happens.

when I use to turn on my printer it use to make a sound on my computer
so I would know that it turned on and now all of a sudden it does not

I am using windows 8.1, jaws 15 and the cannon ink jet 3500 series.
