It won't work in files when using the virtual cursor. Also, be aware that list navigation and some other features are changed a bit by this 'tethering' (as it is sometimes known). The keystroke has been around in JAWS for several years. Be careful that you don't accidentally turn it on.

The most practical solutions using JAWS are to have your sighted assistant get used to your JAWS speaking along; or (unfortunately) when in virtual cursor mode, to turn off the Virtual Cursor with JAWSKey+z.

Hi all, I tried this command of ctrl + JAWS key + num pad minus in IE,
but the JAWS doesn't follow the Virtual curser like it does the
regular PC curser.  I tried in a number of places and it works in
Word, and lists of files.  If you press it twice, it will stay active
until you change it.  I don't think this will work for us on HTML
