Thanks for the comparison information. I can see that there are going to be
a lot of choices to make. I suppose I'll have to get whatever Microsoft has
for word processing, since I do need some kind of word processing program.
This list has been valuable in helping me gather information to make it
easier, and I've copied steps to do things and have them filed in a folder
for future refferences.

If the person is just wanting to do Email at home, WLM is more than up
to the job. However if the person already has MS Office, then he or she
has a choice. I think that the user experience for WLM and the Email
component of outlook is very similar once you get Outlook configured. In
fact, in some respects it is easier. One example is that first letter
navitgation does not work in WLM for navigating among folders or moving
messages among folders, but it does in Outlook. Another advantage is
that you can sync your Outlook Emails with Email on a smart phone or
tablet. I believe that this also works for calendars and contact lists.
One thing that is easier in WLM is to save the senders of Email messages
into your contacts.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [JAWS-Users] Opinions: Windows Live Mail or Outlook
2010
Hello List,
I have a friend with basic computer skills who is struggling a bit with
Outlook 2010, JFW 16.
I'm wondering if WLM might be easier for him to use as it appears to
have a simpler user interface.
Thanks in advance for any opinions, experiences, one way or another.
Glen
