Yes you can set up a distribution list quite easily
control shift g will bring up the group list option
Name it
to add contacts to this group is easily done as well
control 1 will bring you to the in box from anywhere in wlm and control 3 will bring you directly to contacts
If someone sent you a message, you can easily add them another way too
just leave the message highlighted and use your application key and up arrow to add sender to contacts and enter
I also set the preview pain and reading pain to off for easier reading
The other difference between o e and wlm is in o e yyou entered on the folder to get the messages in that particular folder, in wlm you find the folder you want, and then tab to the messages inside that folder
good luck

As stated before, you will not have the ability to navigate by first letter
navigation, but the other things you mentioned I believe are all there:

Arrange mail in preference order:
I am not sure just what you mean, but you can arrange your mail in different
orders, ascending, descending, by thread, etc.
Put in signature lines:
yes.
Check time for server to check for mail:
What you have is an "Update All" button on the Home Tab so that
you can download new messages at anytime from the server.
Setup different folders:
Yes, you can set up any type of folder that you want within each account
that you have set up. You can also add Storage folders to save your
important messages to after reading, These can be set up and named to your
liking, and you can have folders within folders.
Delete in blocks:
Yes, you can either select several messages using the shift key, or use
Control + A to select all, and delete everything within a folder. For the
Junk Mail and Deleted Items folders, the context menu has an item to empty
these folders by pressing the Enter key when focused on this item.
Navigate through a list of mail:
As stated, first letter navigation is not available, but you can sort your
mail in each folder by sender, date, subject, and more to make pinpointing a
particular message easier.
Add new contacts:
Yes, this can be done in two ways. 1. When you receive a message from a
sender who you do not have in your contacts, after it lists the sender's
email address in the From field, there is an Add Contact option.
2. In the file menu, under New, there is a submenu where you can select as
one of the choices, Contact. Some other things here are Email message,
Event, All day event, or News message.
Set up distribution list:
I want to say yes, however, upon looking for this option, I could not find
it. You would need to get this answer from another lister, or find the
answer on the net.

Does Windows Live Mail have similar ways to:

arrange mail in preference order
put in signature line
check time for server to check for mail
set up separate folders
delete en bloc
navigate through a list of mail
add new contacts
set up distribution lists?

Thanks.

Windows Live Mail is very close to Outlook Express. In fact, when you open a mail folder, like the inbox in WLM, JAWS reads "Inbox - Outlook Express- Message list view", or something very similar to this. It is very evident that Windows Live Mail was directly developed through some changes to Outlook Express, and all references to OE were not caught and removed.

Question? Which is more like Outlook Express - Windows Live Mail or Outlook
2010? When my husband had Vista, I could not navigate well with Jaws in
Windows Mail.

Hello List,
I have a friend with basic computer skills who is struggling a bit with Outlook 2010, JFW 16. I'm wondering if WLM might be easier for him to use as it appears to have a simpler user interface.
Thanks in advance for any opinions, experiences, one way or another.
Glen
