My experience is that while AMAZON whill enforce the return garuntee as well as keeping the delivery date, it is often better to click on the link to contact the seller directly. They will often respond quickly with replacement as well as without mailing charges so as to avoid Amazon's mandates and negative reviews.Of course this will vary with the vendor and cost of the defective item.
