Mike, I really like my Outlook 2013 and it is very powerful for all my business and personal needs. I have suggested this before on other lists and received a tepid return, possibly due to blind people being low on funds or having a "jumping over a dollar to grab a penny" attitude but Dan Clark does a terrific webinar at FS on Outlook. When I took it the cost was $29 but now is about $70 but still a huge bargain for 3 1.5hour webinars on Outlook where you can download the class audio and a plethora of materials. He does the same for Excel and Word. The other thing to consider here is that JAWS 17 is still on the verge of release and even after it releases it always takes FS an update or two to figure out the latest Office Suite and that it is just the way it is and always has been. So, all of the little niggly things with JAWS and the new Office 365 are to be expected and will mostly go away after an update or two into JAWS 17. George
If I continue to do the same things I have always done and am believing for change in my life That is a form of insanity! I have been considering returning back to it however. I really need to read some tutorials or other training material to be able to understand how the program works now. So, I really cannot answer your concerns at this time. I would suggest this, on the Office.com web site, you can click on the "See what's new" link, and it gives you a quick run down on what the major changes have been, plus, it has some links that lead to training materials and other support resources. Maybe some of this information would be helpful to you to see what the differences are and how to address them. In outlook 2016 when scrolling messages jaws 16 says *from* mike and *subject( xxxx Why the extra noise now? How do I stop jaws from saying *from*mike to just mike In outlook 2013 next to my inbox jaws used to read aloud the number of new messages i.e inbox10. In 2016 jaws says inbox closed. Any thoughts? -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Sent: 23 September 2015 13:36 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2016 Hi Dan, Yes, I have fooled around with it a bit, plus I asked before installing the upgrade if this was an issue, and Microsoft Accessibility told me that there were no issues between JAWS 16 and Office 2016. So far as I can tell, they are telling the truth. The Office applications actually seem to load faster than the Office 2013 apps did, and no hiccups so far. I created one new workbook in Excel2016, and opened and edited some other types of documents with Word, Powerpoint, and Access with no trouble. After you install the upgrade, Microsoft has some links available with training on the new release, as well as general Office training too. Everything seems to be working well. The applications open very quickly and so far no troubles. I have read about the new features now available in the different applications, but have not tried any of them out yet. I will be doing some of this within the next couple of days. Running Windows 10 by the way. There seems to be no complications with JAWS 16, I checked on the compatibility before upgrading, and was told that there should be full compatibility.
