I uninstalled MacAfee and Defender activated automatically and switched to
the select scan type of routine, . If you want to put a shortcut for MacAfee
on the desk top locate it in the apps by pressing the windows key and
arrowing up to all apps and pressing the all apps button. Locate Windows
Defender in the list and highlight it, press alt, F10 to bring up the
context menu and arrow to open file location and press enter. This will
bring up the shortcut for Defender. bring up the context menu again, shift,
F10 and arrow down to the send to menu, press alt to open the menu and arrow
down to desktop and press enter. Tom

Tom, you are exactly right. I purchased a dell computer and didn't know it
had a 30 day free trial of Mccaffey but I found out today by going to
programs and features. I would like to put an icon for Mccaffey on the
desktop but I have not been able to find out how to do it.

You most likely have another virus program on your computer, as long as it
is there Windows Defender can't be activated. I have the same situation with
the Dell I recently purchased, it has a trial version of MacAfee installed
and the link to Windows Defender won't work. Tom

I am using W10, WLM and jaws 17 and just purchased a new computer and need
to know how to turn on windows defender. I want to use W defender for
several weeks until I decide what virus protection I wish to use. I have
tried several times to turn it on but to no avail. I will appreciate any
