Dave, is there a particular brand/model of adapter to look for? I'm wanting to attach my DoubleTalk LT and need an adapter. but you called it a dongle, is there a difference as opposed to an adapter?

There are USB-to-Serial dongles that are pretty reasonable in price. Then
JAWS will recognize the hardware using a serial port number. I have my
Dectalk Express set up that way.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Hardware decTalk -- is it still usable?

Hi All,

I was cleaning out my office the other day (they are giving us new
carpet at work), and I found an old hardware DecTalk with a serial
connector. Now aside from the connector issue, is the hardware DecTalk
even supported anymore by Jaws? If so, is there a converter that will
allow me to connect it to my laptop?

In my opinion, the hardware DecTalk was the best speech ever so I am
really hoping it is still a viable option.

Thanks for any info.

Kimber
