Greg, Don't need one. Once you have it connected to USB via the adapter, it can be selected using JAWS. Go to JAWS/Utilities/Synthesizer and Braille Manager.

Dave, Where do I get the software driver for the Dectalk Express or will the original software still work with Windows 7? I loved my Dectalk on my xp desktop and thought it was useless. I can get a serial to USB connector! There are USB-to-Serial dongles that are pretty reasonable in price. Then JAWS will recognize the hardware using a serial port number. I have my Dectalk Express set up that way. Hi All, I was cleaning out my office the other day (they are giving us new carpet at work), and I found an old hardware DecTalk with a serial connector. Now aside from the connector issue, is the hardware DecTalk even supported anymore by Jaws? If so, is there a converter that will allow me to connect it to my laptop? In my opinion, the hardware DecTalk was the best speech ever so I am really hoping it is still a viable option. Thanks for any info.
