Oh, wow!
Well, I was learning DOS and JAWS in the early 90's, and I got my first PC, a
Packard-Bell 386, 22Mhz in early '95. Is didn't have enough RAM to run
OpenBook, so I had to wait another year or so before I could get a computer
powerful enough to run it in Windows 3.1.

I started college in '94, and before I was able to get my hands on a PC running
JAWS, I muddled through my first semester of college using a Commodore Amiga
1000 running the AmigaTalk screen reader and the Eartype word-processor.
Anyone on hrer ever used AmigaTalk back then? Email me off-list if you did.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] first openbook and jaws

Not sure how many old-timers there on the list. I was just thinking about my
first openbook from Arkenstone. It had a dedicated IBm 286 10 meg computer with
a Hp Scanner. For my first jaws for dos it was on a Unisys 386. The openbook
system was only $5,000 and the Unisys 386 was only $10,000. This was around
1986. Imagine what computer and software you could purchase today for $15,000.
Look how far jaws for windows has come . I have the 47th copy released to the
public.
