According to those instructions below, I've noticed at least when I unload
jaws, it doesn't shut up right away. Maybe that is why step 2 is there.

However, cannot remember the command off hand, but when you use that jaws
dump command, jaws shuts up real quick, for me.

Fair point, Rick. I literally copied FS's instructions. Can I say, don't
blame the messenger! But I remember following these instructions, ignoring
that "stop talking" phrase, and succeeding in getting JAWS to run in default
mode.

Hi Adrian,
Am I missing something here?
The instructions you posted say to unload Jaws, yet step 3 says wait until
Jaws stops talking before typing in the run dialogue.

Here are instructions I received from FS on how to run JAWS in default mode:

1. Unload the JAWS software from memory "JAWS key+f4 followed by enter"
2. Activate the run dialog "windows key+r"
3. Wait until JAWS stop talking and type in:
jaws17 /default
and hit enter.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Resetting JAWS 15 to its default settings?

Hi all,

Well, somehow, today at work, I discovered that JAWS wouldn't read anything
whatsoever in Firefox. The whole page sounds blank to me, and JAWS souldn't
read any of the menu items either. So I assumed the latest Firefox update
they pushed to our computers might have been the problem.
However, later, I noticed that some other applications are having similar
problems. I suddenly can't read my calendar appointments in Outlook 2013,
and a couple menus in IE won't read properly either.

So I thought I'd try setting JAWS back to its defaults, in the event that I
might have inadvertently screwed something up by accident somewhere.
But I can't find where in JAWS 15 to do that.
Any suggestions?
Tomorrow, I might see about just reinstalling it, but I was hoping to figure
out what setting might've been goofed up first.

And obviously I need to upgrade to 17. Just waiting on the procurement to
go through.

Courtney
